Hunting arrow shot into local home | News Virginian

Linda Jones is no fan of archery, particularly after her husband found an arrow lodged in the front siding of the family?s Tree Streets home this past weekend.

Jones said her husband, Jeff, discovered the hunting arrow deeply stuck in the front of the family?s Walnut Avenue house Saturday night. The arrow landed just above a window.

?My first reaction was laughter,? Jones said. ?But then it hit me how dangerous this was. We were really fortunate.?

Jones described the shooting of the arrow into the family home as ?beyond stupid.?

Waynesboro police said they were called about 7:30 Saturday night after the arrow was found.

Waynesboro Police Capt. Kelly Walker said police checked the surrounding area and a nearby alley for any person who could have fired the arrow.

Walker said it is a class one misdemeanor to discharge a bow in the city, as well as slingshots and BB guns.

The charge can be upgraded to a felony if it is deliberating done to hurt someone. That charge is firing a missile at an occupied dwelling.

For now, Jones said she and her family are grateful no one was hurt.

?When you live in the Tree Streets, the last thing you expect is a hunting arrow impaled in the side of the house,? she said.
